The 1st Annual Jump for the Cure is the perfect opportunity to make a difference! We challenge you to sign up to perform a tandem skydive on AUGUST 22, 2010 to raise donations and awareness for childhood cancer. Proceeds from this event will go to the Michael Cuccione Laboratories at the Research Institute at BC Children's Hospital to support the amazing childhood cancer research team at BC Children's Hospital. We are asking each jumper to raise a minimum of $200 through donations with exciting incentive prizes for top fundraisers, one being a free skydive! Even if you have never skydived before, you can sign up for this event! Vancouver's Tandem Specialists at Pacific Skydivers in Pitt Meadows is taking care of everything! "Your Tandem Skydive starts with 1/2 hour of ground preparation. The instructor wears special equipment built to take 2 people skydiving, and you wear a harness that attaches to the instructor's equipment at 4 points: (2 shoulder connectors & 2 hip connectors). You are very secure! The airplane ride to 10,000 ft or 12,500 ft is 10-20 minutes (depending on airplane used), then you freefall out of the plane for an amazing 35 - 50 seconds before the instructor opens the main parachute. To finish your skydive experience, you help fly the parachute back to the landing area. The Tandem skydive requires a time commitment of 3-4 hours." An experience of a life time!

How do you sign up to be a jumper?
Call Pacific Skydivers at (604) 465-7311 and let them know you want to jump for the cure! They are excited to be part of this worthy event and are giving each jumper a special rate for the day! Total cost for your jump is $245 with the HST included! A deposit of $50 is required to sign up after which you will be contacted by a Jump for the Cure representative to arrange the receipt for your donation forms and information package. There is room for only 50 jumpers and time slots will be filled on a first come first serve basis so sign up today! Don't have a credit card? No problem. Drop by the drop zone with cash or call event organizer Heather Armitage at (604) 889-6625 for a solution.

We realize that skydiving is not for everyone. To celebrate and support all those that are taking the plunge, there will be plenty of ground events for spectators and supporters to enjoy! Come and participate in our inflatable games and rock wall climbing! Bid in the silent auction or enjoy our all day barbeques! Watch the tandems land throughout the day and enjoy a beer during the grand finally that has the experienced jumpers demonstrating their skills on the sunset load. Whether you are flying solo, supporting a jumper or just curious about how skydiving can help fund the search for the cure, we invite you to come and visit us. |
